Tom’s one hour photo

Tom’s One Hour Photo is a photo development store in Los Angeles, CA. While photo development is what they advertised at the start, they had a secret service under their sleeve —- a 90s photoshoot studio. Led by their owner Tom, people can pay $75 in cash for a one-hour session in front of a multitude of dream-like, pastel backgrounds. At the end, you have a series of photos that can transport you back to the days of Jenko jeans and girly, plastic barrettes. Many celebrities like Kasey Musgraves have been just a few that have become one of Tom’s one-hour muses.

The BRAND GUIDE

In studying Tom’s company, I noticed he does not have a digital presence; just a Linktree that takes them to random landing pages that are cluttered and not even branded in Tom’s image. With that in mind, I created an updated logo and brand guide that represented 90s grunge flare that would make Nirvana and Alice in Chains want a photo.

The WEBSITE INTERFACE

Taking what was instilled in the brand guide, the website interface was created. I created three pages, About, Reserve, and Contact. The About page is to tell the story of the Tom’s. The Reserve page is to make an appointment that is streamlined and doesn’t involve a Google Sheet. The Contact page is for questions and future publicity inquiries. At the footer, I placed a photo for the address, hours, and social media links.

Each interface is made for all three displays —- desktop, mobile, and tablet. When you click on the image, you will find that elements like hamburger menus and arrows were utilized as the display shrunk in size. While certain elements had to be substituted the branding and message still remain.
